Pulleys and Gears

Have you ever wanted to move something heavy up and down to get to build something like a tree house? You can use the help of a pulley. Fixed Pulleys can make something go up and down but you use the same amount of force to get it up and down. If you want to make something easier to pull and use less force you need the help of a movable pulley. Movable pulleys can help you lift the load with half the effort force.Gears can be found in bicycles, cars, and cranes. There are four types of gears,a spur gear, worm gear, rack and pinion gears, and bevel gears. A spur gears is the main and most common gear people use in their everyday life. Also there are simple machines that help us, for example a ramp, lever and e.t.c. The spur gear is a gearwheel with teeth projecting parallel to the wheel’s axis. The worm gear is a gear that has a nail and a gear and when the nail moves the gear starts to move. The rack and pinion gear is a gear that is like a rack and the pinion gear is the part that moves on the rack gear and the rack gear stays still also the pinion gear is the one that moves. These gears are used for transportation. The bevel gear is a gear on a right angle.  That’s how pulleys help use in our daily life.

  1. I have a trampoline hammock that we want to suspend from a tree and your pulley technique is really helpful. I will have to apply such a technique to help get my hammock there and then a knot can keep it up as high as needful. This way If I need to readjust it should be fairly easy with the pulley system in place. Thanks for sharing. http://www.britrac.com/aus/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=95%3Alink-to-test&catid=35%3Aconveyor&Itemid=58
